Racing1 wheels are the top of the Fulcrum® range, in aluminium. Studied for competition at the highest level, they are also the perfect tools on the day of the century rides. The 26 mm aluminium rim is lightened by special triple milling between one spoke and the next, in other words in those sections of the rim less subject to stress. The peripheral mass is reduced and the inertia too as a consequence. Furthermore, there are no holes in the rim. This reduces the weight – there is no need to use rim tape – and increases the torsional rigidity and vertical elasticity of the wheel. The hubs are of the oversize type and are fitted with adjustable bearings for maximum smoothness and ease of maintenance. The spokes are in variable-section aluminium and have a special design which improves aerodynamic penetration and reduces the formation of detrimental vortices. Racing1 wheels are distinguished by the presence of three Fulcrum® design philosophies: 2:1 Two to One™ Spoke Ratio, MoMag™ e Dynamic Balance. 2:1 Two-to-One™ Spoke Ratio The rear wheel spoke arrangement has double spokes on the freewheel side. This feature makes the wheel rigid, with lower and balanced tensions. Dynamic Balance™ A special machining operation on the rim section opposite the jointed one balances the two different peripheral masses with the result that the wheel is perfectly balanced during the rotation dynamics. MoMag™ Though there are no holes in the top rim groove, thanks to the MoMag™ patent Fulcrum® is able to fit Racing1 wheels with traditional nipples. The advantages are known: greater practicality in the spoke tensioning operations and extreme simplicity in the replacement ones. Racing1 wheels are compatible with Campagnolo® and Shimano®.
